Trip to Hershey Story
On Tuesday, May 19, 2015, our class took a trip to the Hershey Story Musuem. We went with our job coach (Mrs. Messick) and our transition coordinator (Mrs. Quinnan) as this will be a site for work placements next school year. We not only got to learn about Milton Hershey and interact with the exhibits, but we got to hear and experience what we would be doing there next year for work. We also got to experience the adjoining Cafe Zooka and meet some of the other staff who work there. Overall, it was a really fun experience. I'd like you all to reflect on one thing you learned about Milton Hershey and two things that Lisa (the supervisor) said you would be doing there if you worked there next year. Use complete sentences, please! :)

Out in the community!
In class, each student prepared a presentation on a near by restaurant they picked as somewhere they'd like to go in the community for breakfast. They each presented their choice to the class and we voted on which sounded best. Thomas's choice, the Soda Jerk, won!! So on Monday morning we bopped over to the Soda Jerk to chow down on a yummy breakfast and practice some important math skills.
We squeezed into one big booth!
After enjoying our breakfast we traveled over to Goodwill. While at Goodwill we shopped for some gym clothes that students could keep at school for gym class! We practiced looking for the correct sizes and the different ways they can be put on the clothing tags. We had a great time and found some good items!
What did you enjoy most about the Soda Jerk? Would this be a restaurant you would recommend to others? Tell at least one reason why you would or would not recommend the Soda Jerk.

St. Patrick's Day & Upcoming Activities
We were invited by students in the German Club to participate in some St. Patrick's Day festivities. We made shirts, had snacks and socialized. Yesterday, we played a "getting to know you" social group game outside. Everyone did really well meeting new friends and socializing with each other appropriately. We look forward to more activities with this group of students in the future. Students - What was your favorite part of this activity? Why?
Coming up for our class in the spring, we have both of our Special Olympics meets (qualifying meet at Harrisburg on March 30th and the Special Olympics meet at Messiah on April 12), our spring art show (date TBD), and the community yard sale (sometime in May). I will give you all more details as these events get closer.

Teaching Uno at Traditions
On Friday, we took a trip right down the road to Traditions Retirement Community. The students had a unique experience teaching several of the residents how to play one of our beloved class games, Uno. I was so impressed at the teaching that our students did as well as the conversations that they had with several of the residents. We will be going back in the beginning of February to present our book reports for them. They can't wait to have us back. I think everyone really enjoyed the visit - us and them :) Great job, guys and girls.
